Surface mounted conduit or wire mold gets the wire where it needs to go while looking like an afterthought on an otherwise finished wall.
Every one of these methods gives something up, whether it is cost, protection, appearance, or the ability to make changes later. Usually it gives up more than one. None of them treat the wiring pathway as something worth designing properly from the start.

A proper pathway is a continuous, protected route for low voltage wiring that resides entirely within the throat of the frame. Because it lives inside the frame, it serves as its own back box, which means there is no need for a separate electrical box by the electrician.
